- Description
- The objective of this paper is to propose improvements in the emergency care of a basic health center, in a small country town in the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil), based on the application of a discrete event simulation tool, in order to solve the queue saturation problems. The study is based on collected data, such as: service time, patient arrival time in the queue, patient departure time, interval between patient arrivals, priority percentages based on the type of service, number of employees. From the data collected, emergency care was simulated in order to visualize various ways to solve the problem. The proposed solution uses the licensed practical nurse to assist the head nurse in the screening process, thus increasing by one the number of patients seen per day, which proves to be relevant since an average of twenty-one patients are seen per day.
